Ruth Ungar Merenda, raised in a folk music family, is a singer, songwriter, and fiddler. Daughter of fiddler-composer Jay Ungar (“Ashokan Farewell”) and singer-songwriter-luthier Lyn Hardy, she has performed and recorded original American roots music for over two decades with The Mammals and as a duo with her husband, Michael Merenda.

A dynamic force for community, Ruth co-produces the Winter and Summer Hoot festivals at the Ashokan Center and frequently teaches songwriting and fiddling at destination music camps.

"The Mammals carry on a living tradition: one where music doesn’t just entertain—it empowers.” - RBR Music
