Officer on the Board of Directors for The Hospice and Palliative Care Association of New York State, and a member of its Governance, Finance, and Legislative Committees
Sandra “Sandi” Cassese started with Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties in 2017. She was President & COO prior to becoming President & CEO in January 2022. Previously, she was the Vice President for Oncology Services at a prominent multi-hospital system in the Hudson Valley. Passionate about end-of-life care, Sandi’s impact extends beyond her position with Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties. She is an Officer on the Board of Directors for The Hospice and Palliative Care Association of New York State, and a member of its Governance, Finance, and Legislative Committees, advocating for the terminally ill and their caregivers. Sandi’s commitment to her community extends beyond her experience with hospice care. She has served on the Board of Directors for The Mental Health Association of Dutchess County and was a Director and Chair of the Board of Directors for Hudson Valley Hospice. Additionally, she served as PTA President for Woodstock Elementary School and later served on The School Board for Onteora Central Schools – as a trustee, Vice Chair, and Chair. She was awarded The Jenkins Award by the National PTA Association for providing outstanding service to young people and making a significant impact on their lives through community involvement. She also has over 30 years of volunteer service with the American Cancer Society. Sandi received the St. George National Award in 2009, The Capital Dome Award in 2011, the National Volunteer Award for Excellence in Advocacy from ACS CAN in 2017, and the Volunteer & Staff Partnership Award in 2019 for her Lights of Hope – ACS CAN’s signature fundraising event dedicated to honoring those who have been touched by cancer and remembering those we’ve lost to the disease. In addition to her service with the American Cancer Society, Sandi was recognized with the Athena Award by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2008 for professional excellence, commitment to the community, and support of women’s leadership roles. In 2014, she was recognized by Dutchess County for her work to improve mammography screening rates for minority women. Sandi’s career is marked by excellence, compassion, and a tireless commitment to improving healthcare and the lives of those facing terminal illnesses as well as ending cancer as we know it, for everyone.
