Pete Seeger may be 93 years old, but the folk legend is not “going gentle into that good night.”  On September 25th, he’s releasing two new albums.  Yes, two.

The first, titled A More Perfect Union, features 14 brand-new songs from Seeger and co-writer Lorre Wyatt. Many of the songs are duets with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Steve Earle, the ubiquitous Tom Morello, Dar Williams and Emmylou Harris.

The second album is a 2-CD set called Pete Remembers Woody – Seeger’s tribute to the late Woody Guthrie, who as you know celebrated his Centennial this year. It features anecdotes, reflections and songs across its two-disc span.

A More Perfect Union is Seeger’s commentary on current economic, political, and environmental issues – all with the purpose of honoring Seeger’s spirit.  As Appleseed Recordings’ owner Jim Musselman told Billboard:

“Bruce Springsteen has carried on Pete’s vision. Tom Morello and the albums he is doing as the NightWatchman are among the best political albums out now.  Pete loves harmony singers and I feel the best is Emmylou Harris. All of the artists jumped at the opportunity to do something like this.”
